As part of the NCAA Division I academic reform effort, APR public recognition allows the NCAA to recognize universities and individual athletic programs who have demonstrated a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes. APR public recognition distinguishes the top 10 percent in terms of multiyear APRs of all squads in each sport. The Memphis basketball team is one of 13 of the 35 programs to receive an NCAA Public Recognition Award which also participated in the 2013 NCAA Basketball Tournament. Men’s basketball has now received APR public recognition for four consecutive years.
