Big Time Games This Year
The ultimate checklist of the Top 50 games of the 2011-12 college basketball campaign. From Jeff Goodman:
8. Memphis at Louisville, Dec. 17 (4 p.m. ET on CBS) — The former C-USA rivalry has been renewed and the timing is ideal — as both programs have no shortage of talent.
17. Xavier at Memphis, Feb. 4 (1 p.m. ET on FOX) — Two of the elite non-Power Six programs square off — and two of the rising young coaches in the game, Xavier’s Chris Mack and Memphis’ Josh Pastner.
39. Memphis vs. Michigan, Nov. 21 in Maui (3 p.m. ET on ESPNU) — This is a big-time first-round matchup in the Maui Invitational. Memphis’ talent vs. John Beilein’s system. Interesting.

News and Notes
- Memphis is adding a “21″ patch in memory of former Tigers player and coach Larry Finch. Some more surprises may be in store, stay tuned for the season opening game vs. Belmont on Tuesday the 15th!
- Memphis. With the run the Tigers have had the past few years, they’ve reached a level above mid-major, perhaps into super-mid-major, or whatever you want to call it. Coach Josh Pastner has done a superb job in recruiting and with those young players becoming more experienced, Memphis could be ready for a deep run.
- I’m more convinced than ever that Memphis isn’t a top-10 team (Time to prove the haters wrong!)
- Memphis may have company in the C-USA basketball race

Tigers on ESPNU Tonight at 6:30
MEMPHIS TO BE A PART OF MAUI INVITATIONAL ALL-ACCESS ON ESPNU; FOUR-PART SERIES BEGINS TUESDAY AT 6:30 P.M. (CT)
CHICAGO, Ill. – For Memphis fans wanting to get a look into how their team is preparing for the opening of the 2011-12 season, they can get a glimpse starting Tuesday, Nov. 8 when the Tigers join Georgetown, Kansas and UCLA in “All Access: EA SPORTS Maui Invitational,” the EA SPORTS™ Maui Invitational® announced Monday.
Tuesday’s 30-minute episode featuring all four programs airs at 6:30 p.m. (CT) on ESPNU. The four-part series follows two players from each team in their preparations for the upcoming season, including the EA Sports Maui Invitational. Sophomore Tarik Black and freshman Adonis Thomas are the two featured Tigers in the 30-minute shows that are scheduled for broadcast throughout the month of November.
The other three episodes are slated for Nov. 16 (10:30 p.m. CT), Nov. 20 (7 p.m. CT) and Nov. 30 (10:30 p.m. CT). The entire “All Access: EA SPORTS Maui Invitational” series airs on ESPNU. For a sneak peak of the series, check out the trailer on the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational YouTube Channel.
The 28th annual EA SPORTS Maui Invitational launches the college basketball season with a stellar field in 2011. The Championship Round, which is played at the Lahaina Civic Center on Maui Nov. 21-23, includes Duke, Georgetown, Kansas, Memphis, Michigan, Tennessee, UCLA and host Chaminade.
Before heading to the Island for Championship Round action, Memphis plays Belmont in an EA SPORTS Maui Invitational opening round game Nov. 15 at FedExForum. Game time is 11 a.m. (CT), and the contest is a part of ESPN’s 24-hour college hoops marathon.
