The Madness is 12 Days Away
Memphis Madness 2009 was an event that is still being talked about today, this year Memphis Basketball promises a bigger and better show. We are 12 days away from the Madness and the official kickoff of the 2010-2011 basketball season! Current Portland Trailblazer and former Memphis Tiger Elliot Williams finished 2nd place in the dunk contest at Memphis Madness 2009, here is what they are saying about Elliot in Portland (from OregonLive.com):
“Elliot’s the best dunker,” Roy said. “He’s got some stuff to him.”
Added McMillan: “His vertical is really amazing. The kid can put his head at the rim, and he loves to dunk, so that should be exciting for the fans.”

Elliot Williams in town
Former Memphis Tiger and current Portland Trail Blazer Elliot Williams dropped by the Finch yesterday to play pick-up with some of his former teammates and the rest of the current Tigers. Williams was the 22nd pick in this years NBA Draft and will start training camp next week for the Portland Trailblazers.

Elliot Williams Making Statements
“The guy who has been consistenly causing jaws to drop wide open is Elliot. I talked to a scout today who believes Portland may have gotten the steal of the first-round of the draft. We all heard the stuff about Williams recording a 48″ vertical jump in pre-draft testing. So, he was tested again. He actually bettered that mark. I’ve never seen a guy who causes the entire gym to stop, turn, and watch, when his vertical is tested. Jeff Pendergraph told me this week he’s never seen anything like it, and said he saw Elliot take just two steps, go off TWO feet, and hit the 12-foot mark with his right hand. Yes, he can play too.”
